After traveling a long way through life, it now feels as though I have already faced many of its bitter truths.
Things I had never imagined, things I had never even seen before… life has shown me all of them.
And now, perhaps, I finally understand what life really means.
Maybe life is nothing more than destroying your own peace, sacrificing your dreams, giving up your share of happiness, and continuing to live for others.
But then, one day, the very person for whom you sacrificed your entire life looks at you and says—
“What have you ever done for me?”
Those few words make something inside your heart break.
You devoted your entire life to someone, and when that very person says that you have done nothing for them… what is left for you to hold on to? What is left to make you feel that your existence has any meaning?
At that moment, even your own existence begins to feel meaningless.
You start feeling as though you have no value at all.
You suddenly look at the place where you stand today and feel as though even that place has no worth.
The people for whom you destroyed your own life, gave up your happiness, and pushed your dreams aside… may not even consider you important.
And what hurts the most is when someone simply says—
“What have you ever done?”
Those few words do not break a person from the outside.
They break something deep inside.
Today, I feel so small…
Not in the eyes of others,
but in my own eyes.
Perhaps this is one of the bitterest truths of life—
Sometimes a person spends so much of their life living for others that, in the end, they cannot even remember when they stopped living for themselves.
Human beings are strange creatures…
No matter how much you understand them, how closely you observe them, or how much you do for them, in the end, everything can begin to feel meaningless and worthless.
Today, perhaps, the greatest truth of life has finally revealed itself to me—
This world is such a great deception.
What we see, what we understand, what we accept as truth and spend our entire lives believing in… is not always the way it truly is.
The world may look as beautiful as it does, but perhaps it is not truly that beautiful.
Sometimes, its beauty is nothing more than an illusion created by our own eyes.
After reaching a certain age, a person looks back at their life and begins to feel that their own decisions were too small, their dreams remained incomplete, and even their own existence somehow feels insignificant.
And often, the greatest betrayal comes from the very people we once considered our own.
We are careful around strangers,
but we are never prepared for the wounds inflicted by those we love.
The people we gave a place in our hearts sometimes make us realize that we were never as important to them as they were to us.
We have grown tired of living this life.
Tired of trying to understand people,
tired of holding relationships together,
tired of convincing ourselves to keep going.
Now, all I have understood is this—
Not every smiling face belongs to someone who is truly yours.
Not everyone you call your own will remain loyal to you.
And not everything that looks beautiful is truly beautiful in reality.
Sometimes life does not exhaust us by taking things away from us.
Sometimes,
it exhausts us simply by showing us the truths we were never ready to see.
